In the summer of 2014, my kids and I started flying model rockets and became members of the Blue Ridge Rocketeers. Naturally, I decided to have a little fun and design a logo for the group.
The logo is inspired by NASA mission patches. While I wanted to evoke the iconic patches of NASA, I also wanted to faithfully represent model rocketry, space exploration and West Virginia.
Visual elements include a familiar model style rocket painted in blue and gold to represent the state of WV, flying over mountains with stars in the sky. The design is circled by the name and section number of the group in the Museo typeface.
